Yes, when you are buying from Amazon you are buying a box with a long registration code in it. You put that code into the MobileMe website under renewal and it extends your existing MobileMe subscription by 12 months.

As far as being the only way to contact me, you could also leave a comment on the original article at TUAW. That’s probably the best way because it is more likely that people will see it there.
